Destemmed and fermented to dryness.12 days total on skins. Basket pressed to tank. Upon completion of MLF, transferred to barrel for 24 months in French Oak hogsheads.
Deep crimson red in the glass, the wine shows lifted aromatics of both red and blackcurrant fruits, mint and a touch of eucalypt. Further aromatics of dark chocolate and savoury spice add depth and complexity to the nose. The palate displays generous dark berry flavours. Rich notes of dark chocolate feature again, while subtle savoury hints of French Oak add some style and length. The soft, silky tannin structure gives the wine a great framework on which to age. The wines generosity of primary fruit gives it immediate drinking appeal, while its complexity and depth in structure will also reward those with patience.
‘It’s gorgeously fruited and immediately appealing on the nose showing blackcurrant, spiced cherry, vanilla and mint chocolate characters with a touch of fragrant spice. The palate delivers excellent weight and succulent fruit intensity, wonderfully complimented by silky texture and chalky tannins. Delectably expressed and delightfully structured. At its best now to 2025.’
